AFCEA Spring Golf Tournament
On behalf of the Lowcountry Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) I would like to thank you for your past support of our Education and Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament.
What started with humble beginnings in 1995 has grown into a major fundraising event supporting our Educational endeavors. In the past five years alone we have awarded just shy of 120 scholarships to some of our area’s brightest graduating High School Seniors which will be pursuing degrees in Math, Science, or Engineering. These scholarships coupled with individual Teacher grants, and other educational program support totals nearly $400,000.00. Through the generous donations from companies like yours, we hope to continue that great success going forward.
In preparation for our upcoming tournament to be held April 15, 2015, we are seeking donations of raffle items – some suggested offerings include golf balls, weekend stays at hotels, airline tickets, tickets to shows, concerts, sporting events, theme parks or movies, golf shirts, sweatshirts, hats, or wind breakers, golf clubs, rounds of golf, bottles of wine, liquor, etc. or other donations of value that may be used as skill prizes for our golfers. Sleeves of golf balls are always high on our "need" list. We are also looking for donations for our “goodie bags” given to each of our 216 golfers – sample items include golf balls, tees, pens, koozies, snacks, etc.
With AFCEA being a non-profit organization, donations are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law.
Finally, we are looking for volunteers to help on the day of the tournament. If you or someone in your company can spare a few hours of the day to help out, while at the same time, meet other folks from our industry, please have them get in touch with Debra Pierce at the email address listed below. There are a lot of moving pieces to an event of this size and volunteers make all the difference. Although the majority of our need is in the morning immediately before, during, and for a couple hours following our 0800 registration, we do have jobs available throughout the day so if it better fits your schedule, come out and volunteer for the afternoon shifts.
If you/your company is interested in volunteering or donating items, please contact the following individuals directly:
Committed items are requested to be in our possession by April 10, 2015. This will ensure your company receives the proper recognition in our literature. Additionally, this timeline ensures adequate opportunity to sort through, categorize, and as required, stuff goodie bags. If more convenient, we will be glad to coordinate pick up of your items from your location, simply contact Debra for arrangements. With your continued support, we can continue to make this event one of which we can all be proud.
Thanks again for supporting the future leaders of our industry!
