SSC Atlantic Executive Director appointed CMO at SPAWAR headquarters

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Steve Dunn, currently Executive Director of SPAWAR Systems Center (SSC) Atlantic, has accepted a position as Chief Management Officer (CMO) at SPAWARSYSCOM headquarters in San Diego, California. As CMO he will be responsible for supporting the SPAWARSYSCOM Commander and Executive Director in leading and executing the command's strategic vision in administrative and business operations and transformation functions.

When making the announcement SPAWARSYSCOM Executive Director Pat Sullivan said,
"In this role we can leverage Steve's experience and leadership at SPAWAR while providing more bandwidth for the Commander and me to lead SPAWAR's engagement and role in the DoN's cyber future."

One of three major Department of the Navy acquisition commands, SPAWAR serves as the Navy's Information Dominance systems command and technical lead for C4ISR, providing the hardware and software to connect warfighters at sea, on land and in the air. This Echelon II organization is located on the Old Town Campus in San Diego.

A highly regarded Defense acquisition professional, Dunn has more than 25 years of federal service and was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in 2001. Dunn, who has served as SSC Atlantic Executive Director for more than a year and a half, is expected to depart Charleston in late July.
"Over the last year and half as your Executive Director I have seen the SSC Atlantic team successfully design, develop and integrate amazing technologies, world-class services and leading-edge capabilities for DoN, DoD and our customers around the world," Dunn said in an email to the SSC Atlantic workforce. "I have never been more proud of any team I have been a part of and the accomplishments and value we were able to create together!"

Dave Monahan, SSC Atlantic Director of Operations, will serve as acting Executive Director while a selection process is underway.
