AFCEA Fall Golf Tournament - Call for Donations/Volunteers
On behalf of the Low Country Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) I would like to thank you for your past support of our Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament.
In just the past five years alone, this tournament has enabled us to award nearly 100 $3000.00 scholarships to some of our area’s brightest minds, graduating from Greater Charleston area High Schools and who will be going on to college in pursuit of degrees in Math, Science, or Engineering – additionally, two years ago, we began offering scholarships to Veterans of our Nation’s Military meeting those same criteria. With the generous donations of companies like yours we hope to continue that great success going forward.
In preparation for our upcoming tournament to be held Oct. 16, 2013, we are looking for donations for our raffle items – suggested offerings could be golf balls, weekend stays at hotels, airline tickets, tickets to shows, concerts, sporting events, theme parks or movies, golf shirts, sweatshirts, hats, or wind breakers, golf clubs, rounds of golf, bottles of wine, liquor, etc. or other donations of value that may be used as skill prizes for our golfers. Sleeves of golf balls are always high on our "need" list.
We've decided not to have goodie bags for the golfer this fall. If you have already planned on something for the goodie bag, we will give those items out after the tournament in the clubhouse . Again, because AFCEA is a non-profit organization, donations are tax deductible.
Finally, we are looking for volunteers to help on the day of the tournament. If you or someone in your company can spare a few hours of the day to help out while at the same time meet other folks from our industry, please have them get in touch with Debra Pierce at the email address listed below. This is a large all-volunteer effort and as such, we need lots of folks to ensure it comes off without a hitch. The majority of our need is in the morning immediately before, during, and for a couple hours following our 0800 registration, however, we do have jobs available throughout the day and so we still need volunteers for these afternoon duties.
If your company is interested in donating items or volunteering, please contact one of the following individuals directly:
We need to have your commitment and items in hand by October 9 to ensure we can give your company recognition in our literature. One of the contacts will be glad to pick up the items from your location if more convenient for you. With your continued support, we can make this the most successful tournament to date.
Thanks again for supporting the future leaders of our industry!
