SPAWAR Systems Center Atlantic Executive Director appointed as PEO DHMS
Joint Base Charleston, S.C. - Naval Weapons Station -- SPAWAR Systems Center
(SSC) Atlantic's Executive Director Christopher Miller has been appointed as
a Program Executive Officer (PEO) for the Department of Defense (DoD)
Healthcare Management Systems (DHMS).
As PEO DHMS, Mr. Miller will be DoD's counterpart to the Assistant Secretary
of Information and Technology, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In his
new role as PEO DHMS, he will report directly to the Under Secretary of
Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics as the DoD Milestone
Decision Authority for the Integrated Electronic Health Record program.
"Chris has been instrumental in the transformation of SSC Atlantic to meet
the Navy's demands for greater efficiencies and effectiveness. His selection
as PEO DHMS is a direct reflection of the impact he's had at SPAWAR and
across the Navy," said Rear Adm. Patrick Brady, Commander SPAWAR Systems
Command. "His vast experience and insight will be a tremendous gain for
Mr. Miller is a highly regarded Defense acquisition official with extensive
experience in information technology. He was appointed to the Senior
Executive Service (SES) in May 2006, and prior to assuming his current
duties at SPAWAR, he served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy
for Command, Control, Communication, Computers, Intelligence (C4I), and as
the Navy's PEO for C4I.
Mr. Miller served as a U.S. Marine Corps intelligence officer from 1995 to
1999, completing a deployment to the Western Pacific and serving as the
intelligence Officer for the largest Marine Aircraft Group in the Marine
Mr. Miller will start his new position Sept. 16. Mr. Dave Monahan, current
Director of Management Operations, will serve as acting SSC Atlantic
Executive Director until a permanent Executive Director is selected.
