Sebastian van Delden, Ph.D.
Sebastian received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida in 2003. He started his career in 2004 at the University of South Carolina Upstate, being promoted to Associate Professor and becoming Director of Research for the campus. At USC Upstate, he received all three of the annual awards for Teaching, for Research, and for Service to the University. From 2012-2015, Sebastian served as the Department Head of Computer Science and Industrial Technology at Southeastern Louisiana University before joining the College of Charleston as Chair of Computer Science where he currently serves as the Interim Dean of Sciences and Mathematics. He has published 30 articles in peer-reviewed, scholarly Journals or Conference Proceedings; lead four ABET/ATMAE accreditation processes; helped to secure numerous industry partnerships; and introduced several new academic programs. He serves on the Foundation Board for the Charleston Digital Corridor, is Public Relations Chair for the Rotary Club of Charleston - Breakfast, and recently received the 2018 Economic Development Ambassador Award from the Charleston County Economic Development Office.
